A Note.

This year, I’ve been busy working to start my career in marketing in a new city, which is (finally) on the right track. When I first moved to Pittsburgh, I spent a while without a job and went really hard blogging and coming up with ideas and concepts for content and ultimately burned out. Since then, I’ve had such a difficult time picking it back up, despite really really wanting to.

So, in addition to working to start my career, I’ve been working hard to restructure how this blog is run to better correspond with my life and, well, with my attention span. After some thought, I realized the solution was right under my nose the whole time.

Since starting this blog in 2015 (holy moly) I’ve really just been blogging strongly and consistently for a few weeks, burning out, not touching it for months, rinse, and repeat. So my solution is just to embrace the cyclical nature of my own work ethic and make it intentional.

2018 is the year I get this right. Starting this year, J. Excess will be a sort of editorial blog. By that, I mean I will prepare 12(ish) full-fledged, hot, steaming posts for your devouring to be released one-by-one for 12(ish) week periods, twice a year. If that confused you as much as it did me, just think of it as editions of a magazine or seasons of a TV show.

I hope this new style will not only allow me to live a life slightly more free of self-induced stress, but also allow me to create content that is more thoughtful, engaging, and interesting (plus it’s a great excuse to constantly change themes and aesthetics like I always do anyways).

I’ve already started on the next edition and I absolutely can not wait for y’all to see what I’ve got in the works. Stay tuned for more updates about the upcoming edition, which is planned for April 2018. In the meantime, you can should subscribe to the blog via email so you can be the first to know when a new post is up, and you can stay updated on exclusive email list content (ooh la la).

Thanks for reading and see you soon.
